NEVER FAR APART YOU AND I
AS I SWEEP FROM
MOTHER EARTH TO FATHER SKY
FOR I AM THE SPIRIT IN THE WIND
I AM ANCIENT AND WISE
KNOWING YOUR SECRETS FROM WITHIN
AS YOU WHISPERED THEM UPON THE WIND
I CARRIED THEM ...TO CREATOR
HIS MESSENGER IN DISGUISE
UPON MY BREATH THE EAGLES SOAR
FROM MOTHER EARTH TO HEAVENS SHORE
IN AUTUMN HEAR MY CALL
AS I CAUSE THE LEAVES TO FALL
IN SPRING MY BREATH,
THE TREES SOFTLY I CARESSED
SUMMER WARMS YOU AS I
COOL YOU WITH A BREEZE
BEFORE THE WINTER'S
CHILLS AND HARD FREEZE
I AM THE SPIRIT OF THE WIND
SOMETIMES YOUR FOE
OFTEN YOUR FRIEND
I AM THE SPIRIT OF THE WIND
I CARRY THE SOUND OF BROTHER WOLF
AS HE HOWLS IN ANGUISH AT THE MOON
SOMETIMES A DISTANT CALL OF THE LOON
FROM THE LAKE.... UPON MY WINGS
WILL AWAKEN YOU FROM DREAMS
AND I JOIN MY BROTHER WOLF IN HIS SINGS
UPON MY WINGS ...I CARRY
THE SONG OF ANCIENT DRUMS
FROM LONG AGO , I STILL SING
FOR I AM THE SPIRIT IN THE WIND
TOUCH ME MY FRIEND
AS I BRUSH BY....
FOR YOU CAN NEVER CATCH
NOR HOLD WITHIN YOUR GRASP

I lay here in the secluded meadow
And in my solitude
I listen to the soft whispers
That invade my mind
Reminding me of days gone by
Are they whispers
Or just the wind caressing the trees
Making them feel loved with its touch
I instantly close my eyes
And I am surrounded by the beauty
Of yesterday
Animals roaming freely and in harmony
Enjoying nature's heartbeat
The eagles perched on their pedestals
Waiting to take a flight to glory
The buffaloes grazing upon the land
Without fear of extinction
Wolves frolicking in safety
Paying homage to the moon
With their lofty serenade
All facing the Earth's elements
With dignity and pride
All strong protectors of their young
Loving and gentle in their family traits
The birds delivering music to the environment
Creating happiness and adding loveliness to life
The butterflies sharing their rainbow
Adding delicate colors to the world
I feel a raindrop caress my face
And it wakes me from my dream
Only to discover it is a teardrop from my eyes
As yesterday will ever remain in the shadows
And my heart is heavy
Knowing I can only visit there in my mind
How I long for yesterday
